Yes, all rented vehicles need a valid e-vignette to use Hungarian toll roads. It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure a valid vignette is registered with the Hungarian toll company.
We recommend making sure with the rental company upfront if an e-vignette has been purchased for this vehicle already upfront.
In case the rental company doesn’t provide the vignette you will have to purchase one.
You can order your Hungarian e-vignette now comfortably here.
If the rented vehicle has a higher total permissible weight as 3.5 tonnes, make sure if it has an OBU or a route ticket.
Vehicles (and vehicle + trailer combinations) that have a total permissible weight of over 3.5 tonnes use the distance based toll system (HU-GO).
