Vehicles with a total permissible weight up to 3.5 tonnes need an e-vignette, including:
- Passenger cars (category D1)
- Motorcycles (category D1M)
- Campervans / motorhomes up to 3.5t
- Vehicles with trailers where the combined weight stays under 3.5t
- Minibuses up to 3.5t
Vehicles (and vehicle + trailer combinations) that have a total permissible weight of over 3.5 tonnes use the distance based toll system (HU-GO).

- Ambulances
- Fire engines / fire service vehicles
- Police vehicles
- Disaster response vehicles
- Hungarian military vehicles
- NATO military vehicles
- Vehicles of the Hungarian state and government
- Vehicles of foreign diplomatic missions
- Vehicles of the Hungarian road authority (used for road maintenance and construction)
- Certain public utility vehicles
- Vehicles used for official border control
- Vehicles of historical interest (must be pre-registered with authorities)
- Humanitarian aid shipments (must be pre-registered with authorities)
- Agricultural Vehicles
