Roadside cameras and mobile enforcement units photograph every passing vehicle. License plates are checked instantly against the vignette database. We highly recommend not to risk it, as the fines are much higher than the initial price for the e-vignette.
If caught without a valid vignette you will receive a “pótdíj” (penalty):
- Paid promptly (within a short grace period) the fine is 30 - 50 Euros
- If not paid promptly the fine is 100 - 200 Euros
